One God and Father of All

The seventh and signature “one” in Ephesians 4 is the “One God and Father.”  There is only one true God.  Humans have had and continue to have many gods.  Humans have made gods out of iron, wood and gold to name a few of the materials.  But man has also made gods out of jobs, money, recreation and such like.

Men may spend their lifetime ignoring or even denying the existence of the “God and Father of all.”  These same men will also deny that this “One God and Father” is above all, through all and “in you all”.  God the creator of the Universe has always been and always will be.  He has no beginning and no end.

The Godhead is made up of God—the Father, God—the Son, and God—the Holy Spirit.  John states, “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one” (1 Jn. 5:7).  John makes the argument in the beginning of the Gospel of John that “the Word” (Jn. 1:1) which “became flesh (Jn. 1:14) was Jesus.  These three, being one, have always worked together in complete unity and harmony, though each has His own role to perform in the redemption of mankind.  The father was the planner, the son is the executioner of the plan, and the Spirit is the revealer of that great plan.  Already in this list of seven one’s we have seen the one Lord (God the Son-Jesus) and the “one Spirit” (God the Spirit).  This last “one” completes the Trinity—God the Spirit, God the Lord, and now God the Father.
